The objective of the AquaVision project is to develop a new and innovative biomass estimation system for aquaculture production using standard, commercially available and affordable monocular cameras and state-of-the-art Computer Vision and Machine / Deep Learning algorithms.
Knowing the biomass (fish average weight and number) is by far the biggest challenge faced by all companies in the sector and the most important and critical element for production optimization and sustainability.
It will allow the aquaculture sector to improve performance through optimum use of feed (based on the accurate biomass estimations), improved management of fish densities, improved fish health, reduced environmental impact and better planning.

The project is partially funded by the OPERATIONAL PROGRAM: ‘Cyprus Tomorrow Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026,’ PRIORITY AXIS: 3 – Strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the economy, specifically through the program ‘RESEARCH IN ENTERPRISES 2023.
